When Rean India set out to create a sustainable water framework in India, they turned to Membracon UK for technological solutions to engineering challenges. Could our technology helpwith water, sanitation and hygiene in India?
It turned out we could do much more, with our significant design and engineering experience in water frameworks proving most useful.
The culmination of this is the formation of OajShakti, a new company supported by CEI (Confederation of Empowerment Initiatives) that will combine Rean India’s and Membracon’sresources to create a sustainable closed-loop water framework in India.
Rean India specialises in water management and wastewater management, helping to create efficient water infrastructure across India. It is estimated that less than 50% of India’s population has access to clean, safely managed drinking water, making Rean’s mission essential.

Membracon is a global leader in industrial water treatmentand recycling solutions, designing many water treatment systems in use today.
With expertise in biofiltration, ultrafiltration, UV control, reverse osmosis, clean water treatment andeffluent treatment, Membracon designssolutions that reduce waste and contribute to the circular economy.
OajShakti is a new company with shared expertise, drawing on the best talent in Rean India and Membracon. OajShakti will work exclusively on a sustainable water framework in India, utilising Membracon technologies.
Membracon’s water treatment systems are more advanced and scalable than those in India, giving JV OajShakti new ways to treat water. For example, ultrafiltration, ultraviolet, andreverse osmosis systems developed by Membracon have industry-leading efficiency and flow rates, including smaller, space-saving systems that can treat significant water volumes.
Membracon’s technology transfer to India will see OajShakti create India’s most advanced sustainable water framework. At the same time, Rean India’s project pipeline and infrastructure will ensure resources and projects run smoothly.
It’s easy to treat water with technology, but treating it safely and meeting water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) standards is challenging.
India has poor water infrastructure, often designed to meet immediate demandwith no thought for waste. OajShakti will create sustainable water infrastructure for clean water production, water recycling and reclamation.
Clean water production, water recycling and reclamation are processes that need to go hand-in-hand for a circular economy. India deserves not only clean waterbut an infrastructure that will provide clean water safely and efficiently.
